Cultural Context Research Group Presentation Evaluation Criteria

1)  Did the group present useful information about the author's early life as it might have affected his writing? 

 

2)  Did the group present useful information about the author's attitude toward Transcendentalism's beliefs about nature, morality, and humanity that might have affected his writing? 

 

3)  Did the group present useful information about the author's specific attitudes toward slavery and the Mexican War, and whether the author ever wrote specifically about those issues? 

 

4)  Did the group present useful information about the author's documented relationship with any or all of the other writers in the group? 

 

5)  Was the presentation well-organized, carefully reasoned, and economically presented?  Was all evidence clearly sourced from a scholarly book, and was the bibliographic information made freely available to the class in a handout or on a freely accessible web page for which the URL was supplied on a handout?
