        The edition's folio (2^o) format may have been intended to help supplement "Mary Marvell"'s claims to be his legitimate wife and, thus, his literary heir and executor.  The legalistic vocabulary of her personal statement also seems intended to create authority for this edition's version of Marvell's poems.
