Rules for the English 215 Critical Methods "Crit-Off"
1) Confer with your theoretical partner/ally and determine which text works best with your theory and why.
2) Then use your theory's methods and figure out what insights your theory discovers. Especially look for discoveries of patterns of evidence in one part of the text that enable you to predict the existence of more evidence elsewhere, either in this text or in others by the same author, about the same topic, etc.
3) Can your theory borrow methods from any other theories to enhance its insight?
