Middle English Practice Conference Times for 2/7-2/13

        Prepare for your conference by rehearsing about 10 lines of Middle English verse that are assigned for the next class’s reading assignment.  Make sure you have chosen a syntactically coherent piece of text.  That is, don’t start in the middle of a sentence or stop before the sentence ends.  Find a sentence that says something, preferably something you think might be important.  After practicing your pronunciation, translate it into idiomatic modern English and interpret its meaning.  Make use of the glossed words at the bottom of the page, and the explanatory and textual notes at the back of the book  It's OK to use ModE slang if the sense of the ME text warrants it.  ME has slang, too, as well as irony, ambiguity, paradox, and humor.
