Where Did My Marbles Go? - Adopted from HIGHLINE SCHOOL DISTRICT MATH OLYMPIAD - March 22, 1997 (http://www.blarg.net/~math/hmo97y1p1f.html)
So many games come with marbles and other tiny pieces. My brother and I lose them all the time. My mom is constantly asking us to put everything back. We aren't very good about it, though. One day, we just took all the lose marbles and put them in a bag.
Now, I have a bag of marbles. I gave a third of them to Tina. Then I gave half of what I had left to Tom. I now have 8 marbles left. How many marbles did I start with?
