Though less well established than the full profile portrait, this three-quarter view fits contemporary descriptions quite well.   Without his general's bicorne, Toussaint assumes a milder aspect.  His features may have been slightly idealized here, but this portrait seems likely to be much more accurate than most of those which follow (many of which appear to be works of pure imagination).
