*Fall 2012*  Tutors will meet to create this semester's schedule on Thursday, August 30.  Based on past years' experience, we will be open by Tuesday, September 4 (day after Labor Day), or sooner.  Please contact the tutors directly if you need writing help before the Center's official opening.  See the "Who We Are" page for tutors' names, majors, and other biographical information that will help you get to know them.

Come see us at the Writing Center!  We can help!

"Writing Center," you say?  So what is this "writing center"?

It's impossible to get through Goucher without having to write papers. As a part of the school's general education requirements, Goucher expects its students to learn how to write effectively (a detailed explanation of what the college considers proficient is available on The Writing Program Homepage). Even after you attain College Writing Proficiency, however, writing assignments continue to pour in; no matter what year you are in or what you are writing for, the Center is here for you.

Writing Center tutors are trained students from a variety of majors who can help you through all stages of the writing process, from determining a thesis statement to final stages of proofreading.

The information and links available on this site should assist not only students seeking some extra help on writing assignments, but also professors with questions about the functions of the Center.
