The Writing Center is staffed entirely by student tutors. We have all undergone training under the esteemed Arnie Sanders and are equipped to handle any and all kinds of writing problems. Feel free to contact us individually for tutoring sessions --many of our tutors are willing to work with students outside of official Writing Center hours.
Get to know your tutors! We are approachable and not scary at all.

from Palo Alto, CA. English major, Literature and Creative Writing double concentration.
[Center Co-Manager, Spring 2012]
Camden Kimura is a Junior English major, with a double concentration in literature and writing. She enjoys applying classic literature to young adult novels and watching the two collide. Outside of the writing center she workd in the libary's conservation lab fishbowl where she breaks and fixes books. She loves to tutor and work with students enrolled in ISP. Her favorite things are tea, paper cranes, and cookies. If she inexplicably looks familiar to you, check the Goucher homepage. (You may or may not find another tutor lurking there as well.)
Peter Krause ’12,
from Towson, MD. English major, Writing concentration, Anthropology
minor.
Peter knew he wanted to spend much of his life reading and writing when, as a high school student, he started rewriting the bad endings of even worse science fiction novels of obscurity. Whether or not the planet Xion really needed to be blown up or what happened to its tree-people inhabitants in the process is up for debate, but what is certain is that the experience cemented in him a fondness for the written word .
At Goucher, Peter has enjoyed classes in fiction writing and English literature. He is fascinated with the connection between literature and history and how one can use texts to interpret history. This interest in the connection between the written word and "real life" led him to pursue classes in journalism and complete an internship at the Baltimore Sun newspaper. Peter learned from Ann Patchett, sucessful fiction writer and author of Bel Canto, not to believe in writer's block. Surgeons never get "surgeon's block" and lawyer's never get "lawyer's block," they get creative, put in more hours or ask for help. Help is what the writing center is all about!
When he is outside of the classroom and writing center, Peter is dabbler. He dabbles in adventure bicycling, books on China's past, present and future, distance running, exotic coffee, the stock market and documentaries on just about anything.
Jillian Lipman, '14, Peace Studies Major
Maggie McManus, '12, English Major
Anna Richardson '13, from Hingham, MA. French major, Religion minor. (Can tutor in French.)
[Currently studying in Argentina, Spring 2012]
Anna Richardson is a Sophomore French major and Religion minor from Hingham, Massachusetts. Anna is going to minor or major in Peace Studies as well but has not quite decided yet. While she would be more than happy to help with any kind of writing assignment, she wishes any Writing Center visitors to know that she loves analyzing films and literature, particularly poetry, both in English and in French. Thus, if any students are struggling with poetry or with literary papers, she will help you with vigor. Anyone needing help with French assignments (essais, explication de textes, etc.) should definitely contact her, and if they cannot make it to her office hours an appointment can be set up outside of the Center. Specifically, Anna loves Moliere, Romanticism, debating religious theodicies, and discussing the future of human rights.
Megan Simon '13.

Megan is a sophomore Spanish major, dance minor, and (hopefully) interdisciplinary linguistics major. She can help with lower level Spanish papers and ESL tutoring as well. She survived ISP and is happy to help others do the same.
